Behind The Price Tag

We live in a world where we’ve become too used to clothes that are cheap, fast and always available. You see something online, click, and it arrives at your door the next day. It has become so normal that we forget what it actually costs to make something from start to finish, when it’s done properly.

Fast fashion has changed how we think about clothes. It has made us used to buying more, using less, and throwing things away too soon. When prices are low, someone else is paying the difference. Often it’s the people making the clothes, or the planet that has to deal with what’s left behind.

In many parts of the world, clothes are made in places where people work under harsh conditions. Buildings can be unstable, fire exits locked, safety rules ignored. Workers often stand for hours in cramped spaces, move heavy materials or repeat the same motion over and over. Many suffer from breathing problems because of fiber dust or chemicals in the air, or from chronic aches in muscles and joints. Most do not earn enough to cover basic needs like housing, food and healthcare. The system is built on pressure to produce faster, cheaper and in bigger volumes.

At Moo Knit we want to do things differently. We make our garments at the Oleana factory in Ytre Arna outside Bergen. It’s a quiet, beautiful place where skilled people still make knitwear in Norway. The factory is open for visitors, and everything happens under one roof. Knitting, sewing, finishing and quality checking. The people who work there are paid fairly, have good working conditions and take pride in what they do. Many of them have been there for years, and really love their job. Together we are a small but powerful team, where every person contributes with their unique knowledge and presence.

We use pure wool only, because it lasts and because it ages well. We design clothes that you want to wear again and again, not just for one season. We believe clothes should be an investment. Something you live in, not something you store away. When you love what you wear and use it often, the cost per use becomes low. The real value is in how long it lasts.

We also believe there’s a certain calmness in owning fewer things. When you know where they come from, how they’re made and who made them, it changes the way you see them. You take care of them, you repair them, and they stay with you. And if your Moo Knit piece ever needs some extra care, you’re always welcome to stop by the factory to have it fixed.

Thank you for checking the inner tag, and not just the price tag <3
